Event information

This event has passed.

Please join Seattle SAKE Paddling Club in our first-ever SAKE Serves blood drive, April 15 - 30, through the regional network of Bloodworks Northwest donation centers. This virtual blood drive is in honor of our SAKE Survivor teammates, some of whom have received blood transfusions as part of their treatment. All SAKE members, as well as their friends and family, are invited to participate to meet the needs of our community members who rely on donated blood for cancer treatment, surgeries, and in trauma situations.

Seattle SAKE Paddling Club’s two-week drive will work like this: Give blood between April 15 - 30 at ANY Bloodworks Northwest donation location and when you arrive to donate, provide the code SAKE to the registrar so we can track our participation and impact! Our first-time target is 25 SAKE members, friends or family to support our campaign. We will hold another drive post-race season in September so let’s set the bar high with our April drive!

Bloodworks Northwest appointments are required.  Use this link to plug in your home or work zip code, click next, then enter April 15 to 30 to find all the convenient nearby locations offered in our timeframe. Appointments fill up fast, so schedule now so you don’t forget and to ensure you find a time convenient for you. Make it a party and bring a friend (or two or three) – just be sure you each make an appointment so you can donate together.  If you need help booking an appointment, please e-mail or call 1-800-398-7888.  Wear your short sleeved team jersey and post a selfie on the SAKE members and friends Facebook page. For fun, you can also RSVP on the clubsake.com Events page under “Club Events” to show your support and participation - though this is not required and won’t save you a space at Bloodworks Northwest.

Have you ever been told you are not eligible to give blood due to “mad cow” or Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD)?  The FDA has lifted this restriction and as of 2023 anyone who was previously deferred for this reason alone, can now donate blood!  Folks competing in Panama may be eligible to donate, depending on exact travel destinations so contact Bloodworks directly if in doubt based on your particular itinerary.

Masks are required during the donation process.  For more information on eligibilitymonthly donor incentives and more, please visit www.bloodworksnw.org

Schedule your April 15 - 30 donation now using the link provided, and reach out to Allison Delong with any questions. Thank you in advance for being a part of SAKE Serves and helping to save lives in our community!
